Yes, it’s been a long time since I wrote a blog. My husband, The World’s Laziest Networker, Mark Januszewski, he blogs all the time. He’s a excellent writer. Not an excellent speller, as so many like to remind him, but an excellent writer.

People’s need to judge someone on their spelling ability is a mystery to me. Oh yes they say, “It’s for your own good, people will think your stupid and unworthy if you don’t spell correctly.” So, they wrap themselves in virtue while they criticize. I’m not fooled.

Well guess what, I don’t give a crap about those people. They can just go on judging and not taking responsibility for their own lives. As long as your busy looking at everyone else you never have to look at your own junk.. And to quote a very wise character, who probably didn’t spell well, Forest Gump, that’s all I have to say about that.

So now after airing that for today, I start my 7 day mental diet. Living in a country obsessed with diets it’s amazing to me that virtually no one is interested in the mental diet.

Honestly I’m not sure I can do a 7 day mental diet. Make up my mind to devote one week solely to the task of building a new habit of thought, and during that week let everything in life be unimportant as compared with that. This will without a doubt change my life forever. Here’s the prescription if you’re interested in joining me.

For seven days I must NOT allow myself to dwell for a single moment on any kind of negative thought. I must watch myself for a whole week as a cat watches a mouse, and I must not under any pretense allow my mind to dwell on any though that is not positive, constructive, optimistic and kind.

This discipline will be so strenuous that I could not maintain it consciously for much more that a week.

A week will be enough, because by that time the habit of positive thinking will begin to be established. Some extraordinary changes for the better will come into my life encouraging and enormously, and then the future will take care of itself. The new way of life will be so attractive and so much easier than the old way that my mind will find my mentality aligning almost automatically.

Dieting, eating right and the most strenuous exercise are child’s play compared with the 7 day mental diet. If you join me you’ll see I am correct.

A WARNING: DO NOT START THIS LIGHTLY!!! Think about it for a day before you decide. Don’t let this be one of those many, many things you start and never finish.

The whole idea is to have seven days of unbroken mental discipline in order to get the mind definitely bent in a new direction once and for all.

If you do start and for any reason “fall off” the mental wagon. Drop the diet altogether for a few days, and then start again fresh.

So what is not positive thinking you may ask, that’s easy. Any thought of failure, disappointment, trouble of any kind, criticism, cynicism, spite, jealousy sickness, accident any kind of limitation or pessimistic thinking. Any thought that is not positive or constructive in character, whether it concerns you or anyone else. But don’t worry to much about this, you’ll never have any trouble figuring out whether a thought is negative or positive. Even if you brain tries to deceive you, your heart will whisper the truth.

When a negative thought enters your mind immediately turn to something positive. Have something ready, some happy memory or some dream you wish to achieve think of that instead. For more info on this if you are a member of Go90Grow do the Think and Grow Rich Challenge. If not definitely check out the course, there are a bunch of testimonials on this page Go90Grow. It’s a life changer!!!

I highly recommend turning off the TV, avoiding all the negative people in your life. You know you can simply get up and leave if you want to. Take responsibility for yourself and do what’s best for you!

Emmet Fox’s cinder analogy may help. A man is sitting by a fire, a cinder lands on his sleeve. If he knock it off at once, without a moments delay to think about it, no harm is done. If he allows it to rest on him for a single moment, under any pretense, the mischief is done. So is it with a negative thought. You would NEVER let a cinder burn you, you’d jump to brush it off yet you’ll let negative thoughts burn giant holes in your life. Think about it…

If you are in earnest and wish to join me just comment below.  Let us know when you’ll begin, if you fall off, when you’ll restart – it helps us all so much to share.

I would love the hear your progress and ups and downs to help me along my path. Just bookmark this page or subscribe to the blog and come back and let me know how your doing!

  • Awesome reminder Davene! I still use affirmation sayings and read them daily. I just realized a couple of them had negative statements even though they were supposed to be positive 🙁 so I am going back and rewording them in a positive tone! Miss you both!
